Prior to 8 to a Lamp’s efforts, there was little to no pre-primary education in the village of Magulilwa, Tanzania. Studies have shown that early childhood education can dramatically improve a child’s chances of attending secondary school. Currently, only 2% of all primary school students in Tanzania have an opportunity to attend secondary school, particularly in rural villages.
By building the kindergarten in Magulilwa, it means local students begin their education earlier; helping them to perform at a higher primary level and continue their studies. Approximately 120 local students per year will attend the kindergarten, and we believe that the entire community (roughly 3,000 people) will benefit from this and future 8 to a Lamp projects.
Time is precious, so any time you can give to our events or anything related to the nonprofit are much appreciated.
